We're using the Polaris Razor all-terrain vehicles to travel some of the very rough and narrow mule cart roads that went to some of the really old gold mines in the area. Today, the weekend gold prospector is not so much concerned about hitting it rich as they are about having a real outdoor adventure with the possibility of finding some gold dust and for the very lucky, some gold Nuggets. People collect gold nuggets just for their natural beauty. Also, many collect gold nuggets as a form of physical ownership of gold as defense against you wrote in buying power of the dollar and also to participate in an asset class that has been popular since biblical times. Using a drone to help in gold prospecting

This is a great idea save time when you're prospecting out in the California desert. Because you get real-time video feedback on the transmitter, you can save a lot of energy and examine areas that would be really difficult to reach by foot.

You can look for rock stacking and dry washes, old mines and even the condition of dirt roads in the area.

Using a drone to assist in gold prospecting in California.

Using my Yuneec Typhoon Q 500 G model UAV with a GoPro Hero4 black edition camera shooting in 4K resolution! We are camped out in the southeastern corner of California right next to the open pit American Girl gold mine.

This drone has a range of approximately 2000 feet and with a antenna modifications some say it can go over a mile! But, FAA requires that it only be operated in the visual line of sight and also no higher than 400 feet.

By being able to see the terrain in real time that the drone is flying over this is really a big help when deciding on what areas to investigate for dry washing or gold metal detecting.

Arizona gold nugget detecting

Arizona gold nugget detecting. Gold prospecting in Arizona. Just northwest of Quartzite AZ we are in a desert dry wash, where the gold metal detector gave a strong signal in the bedrock. 

After working for quite some time, the prospector could not locate the source of the signal. It could be an iron vien within one of the rocks, but then again, it could be a rich gold vein!

It could take a large steel wedge and sledge hammer to get at the source. For now, anyone with a good metal detector who happens to swing it over this bedrock, may be the one to get the answer to what is in there.

This gold prospecting equipment is made of 22 gauge sheet metal to cut cost and the leg system is a 1 piece tubing design ( emt ) without any welds to break with emt elbows mounted to the hopper.
The hopper has an adjustable flow gate and also has a 3 height (angle) adjustment. Bracing is in the right spots for strength and sheet metal is flanged for strength. The unit vibrates with a counter weight fan assembly with a double sealed bearing. Fan is 5″ diameter 8 blade. The riffle tray swings up for easy clean up and the riffles are bolted to the tray sides ( no welds).  When a gas leaf blower (not included) is hooked-up, it makes the recovery box shake (counter weight fan assembly) and the lighter materials to be ejected .

It has a 3″ OD hose adapter and a 3″ RV sewer hose fits nice (hose not included), Also the air flow passing through the Lexan riffle board creates an electrostatic charge which helps fine gold to cling to the riffle board cloth. The hopper is 23″x13″, the recovery box is 20″x8″. The whole unit stands about 46″ and weighs  22lbs. Unit folds small for EZ transport.

Devaluation of the U.S. Dollar

Without continuing to monetize the debt (QEIII etc), at this point I think we would head into a deflationary depression. Either way, our debt needs to be paid through austerity (deflationary), or defaulted through inflation.
Neither scenario is good, but the FED has made it clear they are trying an orderly devaluation of the dollar.
I just don’t understand why people are surprised at the actions in the precious metals given the state of the world’s reserve currency.
